I have been busy with my lab experiments lately and I finally managed to take a few days off during New Year's eve and New Year's day. I was looking forward to sitting in front of my laptop and watching shows through streaming and surfing net for the 2 days. To my utter horror, I realised that I couldn't connect to the internet!! I managed to pull through a day by watching shows that I had in my DVDs, hoping that this was a temporary problem. Sadly, it was all the same on the next day. By night-time, I had nearly exhausted my show stores and was running out of things to do. How sad!

Seriously, I can't imagine a life without internet... Now that I had managed to fix the connection back to normal, I appreciate the importance of internet and also I think I should have enough stores so that I can still entertain myself in times of internet downtimes.

Yesterday, I was attempting silver staining on my polyacrylamide gel for the first time in my life. Without much guidance (my supervisor was away then), I replaced the developer solution rather clumsily. Instead of pouring the old developer solution into the old staining solution, I poured some of both onto my supervisor's bench top (I was working on his bench top). I placed some tissues to soak up the mess, but left the area for some time to run an errand. Not long after, I returned to the bench top. To my utter horror, the remaining solution on the bench top stained the bench top in grey and yellow patches!! It wasn't easy to clear up the stain (due to presence of silver residue); I had tried ways and means. With my limited and long-forgotten chemistry knowledge, I tried concentrated HCl. Instead of clearing the stain, I ended my choking myself a little. I used all sorts of other stuffs to scrub it clean, hoping that everything will be clear before my supervisor returns and find out about the mess.

But nothing worked!! By then, I mentally preparing myself to receive a harsh scolding from my supervisor and I could picture myself staying back to scrub the bench top daily until the stains disappear. When my supervisor returned, initially exclaimed and tried to clear the mess by using a commercial kitchen cleaning solution. The truth was that he wasn't angry about it since it was only a bench top to him. Even so, I still felt guilty for messing up his area. I did the best I could to clean up; the stain wasn't that bad already but the stain's still visible. Wonder if there's anything I can do to get that stain off...

I was happily looking forward to watch Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai this weekend, but I realised not too long ago that some of the Japanese broadcasting stations had ceased transmission due to the recent murder of a policeman father by his teenage daughter using an axe. I was sooo devastated upon hearing this news! Some of the fans were hurling curses at the girl. Although I could understand how they felt, I guess we should not blame her for that.

To me, this 2nd series seems so mild as compared to the first season. So far, there hasn't been a graphic and bloody murder in the second season whereas the first season was bloody beyond words. In the first scene, Keiichi was already swinging his bat on his good friends. Goodness, how can people blame on the current series? *sigh* Perhaps, the broadcasting companies do not want to upset the masses by broadcasting something that may be related to this case.

Let just pray that the series will be resumed in the near future and not let us hang in the middle...

(Note: Another anime series, School Days, had its final episode suspended due to this case too.. I feel sorry for the viewers and fans, spending months following this series and then not get to see that one final episode. Let's hope that they'll finish this series too...)

Today, I was checking through the fansubbed Higurashi no Naku Koro ni anime that I newly transferred into my hard disk. Then I happened to chance upon the cast frame and I just occurred to me that the Keiichi's seiyuu is the same as Kira Yamato of GS & GSD! *argh* If I didn't remember wrongly, that thought did strike me the first time I watched Higurashi, but for some unknown reason, I did not check it up. Now that I realised, I felt rather stupid for that. :S

I was drinking tea from about 10pm onwards (and lots of tea)... And now it's already 3pm (when I usually sleep at 1 plus). Perhaps I'm too high on tea.

Anyway, I let myself slack for the whole day. I guess my sub-consciousness was desperately wanting it and it started to demand for it, after a week-long of crazy article reading and writing. Sadly, this is continue until goodness-knows-when. *sigh*

I took a bus on my way back to home from campus 2 days ago and I sat beside a guy in the bus. I didn't take a look at his face but was more interested in the stuff he was reading. It was some Japanese text. On closer look, it was a printed set of lecture notes and he was editing it. Just then, it hit upon me that I was sitting right beside my Japanese-sensei who taught me 6 months ago for about 3 months! I suddenly felt "ashamed" to be sitting beside my sensei, at the same time contemplating the idea of talking to him. [Should I get up and bow to him??] He didn't appear to recognize me at all... or rather I didn't give him the chance to (was looking in the other way and was hiding my face behind my unmanned hair). After deciding not to approach him, I was biting my nails all the way during the journey, hoping that he won't notice me.

Luckily, he didn't and I left the bus without any trouble. This should make me realise the importance of who I chose to sit with next time on a public transport. :S

I was out yesterday afternoon in Orchard Road, with some stuffs to settle in mind:

1) Buy a couple of Japanese CDs that I had in mind
2) Look around for any Japanese music magazines that interests me
3) Look around for gifts for my trip to Japan
4) Have fun looking at the books in Kinokuniya
5) Shop for clothing appropriate clothing for early summer in Japan (In particular, I wanted a white long sleeved top)

Expecting myself to return home with tons of stuffs, I happily headed for Orchard Road.


Sadly, I came home empty handed. I was especially disappointed with the CDs that I wanted to buy. It's a terribly sad thing that HMV do not carry many artists that I support. Okay, some of the artists may not be that well-known as Utada or Ayu, but they're quite well-known too what. I was so utterly disappointed when I realized that I couldn't find a single Kobukuro CD.
I'm left helpless. Being a typical poor university student, I don't know how am I supposed to lay my hands on these CDs without getting broke. I could go buy the CDs in Japan, but if you add the the cost of 6 Japanese albums, --> :S Maybe I should beg their HK office to produce their albums. *sigh* I guess I have to priortize them and select a few to buy instead...

Argh! I think MU realised that people have been trying to get over the download slot limitation and I think they just found a way to get past the User Agent Switcher trick! Oh crap! Now I really have no access to all the doramas and music clips that people put up :(

I just received this crap email from my friend and she sent it to the email address which I use for official purposes. Oh c'mon, isn't it obvious that this is a hoax and this technique is similar to those phishing and scam mails?? I couldn't believe that there are still people who still fell for it after all these times!! I should really strangle them one by one! *grrrrr*  It's okay if you're stupid and ignorant, but it's definately a problem if you got others in your shit. Maybe I should just block her email address all together. I'm just really displeased that my email address was sent to some spammer without my consent.

Today's my 21st birthday! *yeah*
But I didn't celebrate, nor went out....

Although I don't live in Taiwan, the earthquake that happened recently had affected my life in some ways. Internet connection has been slow and sluggish these days. Many people are unhappy about this and complained, but I don't think this is not a good way to do so. After all, we should be fortunate that our loved ones are not lost or houses and properties are not damaged. In comparison, the internet seems too insignificant to be ever mentioned. I shall wait patiently for everything to be restored...
